Acne Scarring

Scarring sometimes causes just as much mental stress and depression as the acne itself. Thankfully I have found a few treatments that have quick and long lasting results. I have had a lot of experience with removing my own acne scars. Unfortunately, most scarring removal treatments that have worked for me are very expensive. However, because they are much more beneficial than any other acne scar cream, gel, or home remedy, I am a firm believer in them. If you truly want clear skin, you should consider investing in these treatments. Your skin quality and confidence are worth the price. Believe me.
I recommend going to medical spas for acne scarring treatments because the estheticians there are the most experienced and normally offer a wide variety of treatment options. The treatments that have worked the best for me are HydraFacial, Fotofacial, and SkinPen. All of these have given me amazing results.
HydraFacial is beneficial for any skin type, and can be done whether or not you have mild, severe, or no acne. HydraFacial treatments last for 30 minutes or more, depending whether or not it is combined with a regular facial. Skin feels cleaner immediately, there is no down time after the treatment, and results are immediate. This treatment affects the overall appearance and smoothness of skin, but is not necessarily a scar treatment or treatment to correct skin pigmentation. During the treatment dead skin cells, blackheads, and other impurities are removed by a very light pressure suction device. It also hydrates the skin, and you leave with skin that is smooth, detoxified, and hydrated.
Fotofacial is effective for severe acne and acne free skin, however consult your esthetician before trying the treatment if you have dark skin as the laser used during the treatment could cause changes in skin pigmentation. The Fotofacial sends intense pulses of light, laser, and RadioFrequency deep into the skin. It repairs your skin's collagen and elastin, reduces wrinkles, and improves skin tone unevenness, discoloration, and smoothness. Before the treatment begins the esthetician will apply numbing cream your face so that the laser pulses will not feel as intense. This will need to set for about 30 minutes, after which the treatment will take an additional 15 minutes. You will wear a mask during the treatment, because of the very bright light of the laser. Some discomfort may occur during the treatment, but the numbing cream is normally sufficient enough to block any pain. There is no pain afterwards, and it greatly improves acne and scarring.
SkinPen is the most effective at reducing severe acne scarring, however, acne should be completely cleared before undergoing the treatment, because acne bacteria could be spread to other parts of the skin. SkinPen causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulate the body's natural wound healing process. The micro injuries cause the release of cytokines and growth factors that lead to change in collagen and elastin in the skin. During this treatment an esthetician will roll a rotating, vibrating device over the skin. This process pierces the skin and triggers your immune system to disinfect the skin, remove impurities, increase blood flow, and begin to create new tissue. It feels like a toothbrush that is rubbing your skin. Following the treatment your face will be red, and you will need to stay out of the sun for several days. It makes the skin tight, dry, and flakey for two to three days after the treatment, but after that you will begin to notice results. This is by far the most painful of the three treatments I have mentioned, but also has the most noticeable results. It also continues to improve acne scarring and discoloration for several months after the treatment. If you have severe acne scarring, and you no longer have acne, I recommend trying this treatment. You will notice amazing results!
I have tried all three of these treatments and have had incredible results. Remember that these treatments cannot replace a plant based diet, and if done with out making dietary changes it will decrease the results. New acne will continue to appear which will lead to further scarring and hyperpigmentation. Start with diet, and then once acne starts to clear consider these treatments. You will not regret it!
